Of course!  Would have had been anything else?  Kelvinator had some great appliances.  I have had few back in the day.  There is still a Kelvinator water fountain at the county office building in Eldora.  I have shot of its logo stored somewhere.

A lot of the local AMC's came out of Siebert's. I know of an original, black SC/360 Hornet that is still owned by a former Siebert employee. He's real secretive about the car, and never lets anyone see it. I've never seen the car, but I know it exists, because I met the guys brother (purely by chance) and he confirmed that the car is in his brother's garage. What is really interesting about the car is a story that surrounds it.

Having worked for UPS, I used to deliver to a repair shop and the owner dragraced a Pontiac. I was talking to him one day, and out of the blue he told me that the Pontiac was not his first choice of cars. He said that a month before he came home from Vietnam at the beginning of 1971, he went to the PX and ordered a new, black SC/360 Hornet. His car was supposed to be waiting for him at Siebert Rambler when he returned home. He went on to say that the car never arrived at the dealer, so he waited another month, but the car still didn't arrive, so he purchased a different (non AMC) car.

Keep in mind that I heard this story about two years after I found the guy that currently owns the black SC/360 so I never put the two together. Last year I was talking on the phone with the guy that currently owns the car, and he unknowingly filled in the blanks to complete the story of the car. He told me that he bought the car from a guy that traded it back in to Siebert's Rambler in 1973. He stated that he remembers the car when it was brand new (he worked in the service department) and that the guy that traded it in had bought it new after a guy that came home from Vietnam ordered it but never picked it up. I've never told either of the guys (the current owner or the guy that ordered it) that I knew who the other guy was.

I've always said that I should complete the link because it would be like a homecoming for the car....

Maybe the car originally went to the highest bidder?

Interesting how the story gets all linked together after all these years.

At any rate, the invitation told us the dealer was in Rochester, New York, so we could finally move it out of Lost and Found.  It was also in two separate threads, the original post with the dealer badge, and a separate one started with the invitation flyer, so they got merged into this one topic over here in New York.  Cool, eh?
