From Eddie Stakes and provided courtesy of Daniel Strohl of The Hemmings Auto Blog. Man, I'd kill for that Javelin! Shocked

Eddie found another ad from the same campaign as the above ad, this time featuring Di Salvo's in Affton, Missouri. Affton appears on the 1983 list, but not the 1968 list. Shortly after Eddie emailed us, Jeffrey Bohler, who is Carl Di Salvo's great nephew, responded with a little more information about the dealership:

The location of Affton, Missouri probably is not well known, but it is located in the south area of St Louis.

Carl started as a salesman at the Nash dealer in the Brentwood Maplewood area, and eventually purchased it in the mid to late 50's before moving to location shown in the picture. He was a member of the dealer advisory board, and consistently ranked in the top 15 for dealer volume in the nation. Of course the dealer existed through the AMC, Renault, Eagle, and eventually the Chrysler eras, with Jeep always along for the ride.  Unfortunately, the family sold the dealer just last year to the neighboring Dodge dealer, as Chrysler is wanting them to combine. Yet as the car market has turned recently, it seems to have been a good move.

Indeed, the location on the 1983 dealer list, 5926 S. Lindbergh Blvd., is now South County Chrysler.

As for the Nash dealership he started out at, Ken Havekost's listing of Missouri Nash dealerships mentions a couple in Maplewood: John T. Dolan Motor Company and Compton Motors. Compton, which was around from 1948-1958, seems the more likely candidate and was located at 2207 Big Bend. Doesn't seem to be any evidence of a dealership ever having been at that location now.

Another view of the DiSalvo's lot, this time from an AMC car show in the mid-'80s. This photo posted by 70MarkDonohue over at theamcforum.com:

So cool.  I love the heck out of these old car show pictures.  Memories out the yin-yang.  As we used to say.
