When I worked at Greentree AMC-Jeep in Clarksville, IN back in 1979, one of our salesmen was Bob Snelling.  In his sales office window, Bob had posted a copy of the invoice from the dealership in which he sold either 6 or 8 [can't remember which] '78 or '79 Pacers to country music legend Conway Twitty.  Bob said that Twitty told him they were purchased for use at his Twitty City theme park, and that he knew someone who would convert them into stretched limos for use at the park.

Unfortunately, I no longer have the photocopy of that nvoice that Bob Snelling made for me, and when the family had an auction after Twitty's death, while I noticed they had his "personal" AMC Pacer listed, there was no mention of any Pacer stretched limo...so I have no idea whether that plan was ever carried out.

I have personally seen at least two different Pacer limos on the streets of Phoenix, Arizona.  Real long ones.  Recently, in fact, like within the last six months for the last sighting.  There is a third Pacer that is stretched somewhat, about the same length as a full sized van, and it is lifted hugely with giant tires and four wheel drive.

I had not heard of these before.  It would be nice to know more.

We really need to see these, maybe a stakeout is in order?  Grin

The only Pacer limo I've ever heard about is the one built for Wayne's World II.

One of the long ones is black, giant side picture windows, it's a sedan.  The other one is dark red, has the picture window on the passenger side and two smaller square windows on driver's side.  It's a wagon.  The lifted one looks to have extra doors welded in to produce another set of long windows on the sides, and it's a black sedan.  Both sedans are the non-humped hood kind.  All of them have absolutely black windows and the required bladed satellite antenna on top.  They also all have blacked out trim and color-matched bumpers.

I'll carry my camera in the car for a while, see if I spot one in traffic.  We've got NASCAR coming down to the track pretty soon, so a good chance to see some limos then.  Usually late October, early November.
