What a GREAT selection of cars.  They MUST be inducted into the RustBucket at the earliest opportunity... I shall archive them tonight.

Is that the infamous matchup from this year?  Pete's Patriot and Drag-On Lady?

Thanks, Scott! Grin

Mike, That shot is of the Kim Nagel AMX vs. Nash Trash from 2005.

The Drag-On Lady and Pete's Patriot actually met in 2006 at Great AMC Day (GAD) in Ohio. It was an SS/AMX reunon and a half dozen original cars were there. That is where all of the dragstrip pics came from. Here is a shot of the DOL and PP cars staging at Norwalk in 2006. Unfortunately I wasn't close enough to get a really good picture:

It's amazing how much both matchups look the same.  I don't think I ever realized any other car had the same paint as Drag-On Lady, even though I carefully studied the pics of Nagel's car for a couple of minutes before seeing that burnout photo.  Looks a lot like DOL, and Nash Trash looks very similar to Pete's Patriot, large gold letters.  The quarter panel lettering on PP is just about the only quick visible difference on those two.  Sponsor stickers and other details are different, but from the stands, it's like twin contests, visually.

Here's a nice shot of Drag-On-Lady launching off the line in 1969, from DragList.com:

From DragList.com: ...let us flash back to the first female NHRA national event winner. Shirley Shahan was the the first woman to win an NHRA national event at the 1966 Winternationals. She is pictured in one of her later cars, a factory backed AMX. Shahan raced Pro Stockers into the early seventies before retiring.
